Epiphanie Camera Bags

March 26, 2013 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

When I received my Canon 4ti DSLR camera for Christmas this past year, it came in a package that included a standard Canon camera bag.

The Canon camera bag is fine with plenty of pockets and sections for my camera equipment.  However, it looks so boring.  A bag to store your camera body, lenses, battery charger, usb charger etc… offers such a perfect opportunity for creating a super cute and functional handbag.  So, I figured, surely, there must be more exciting choices out there….

When I first started my search, I kept finding boring bags that did not have colorful choices, cute details, or interesting materials.

Then, I stumbled upon Epiphanie Camera Bags.

The colors, styles, and details of Epiphanie Camera Bags are extraordinary.  Perusing through their selection was a bit confusing because I kept narrowing it down to about five bags.  I could not decide!  There were so many incredible choices.  This was completely opposite to my previous experience of not finding anything that was inspiring.

I finally decided on the Lyric Bag in the Olive color.

Isn’t she beautiful?

You can see below the contrast between my Lyric bag and the standard Canon bag.

Don’t you love the camera charm???  🙂

The back of the purse offers a very wide zippered pocket that you can put an ipad in quite easily.

There is a zippered pocket inside as well, and, of course all of the padded sections for your camera equipment.

The front two zippered pockets are perfect for lens cap covers, chapstick, uv and polarized lens covers, etc…

I LOVE the braided strap.  It also comes with an adjustable longer strap with padding.

IMG_1419I took this bag on my trip to NYC and absolutely relished it.  The compartments inside kept me organized throughout the trip, the camera and its different accessories were easily accessible, and the color and style made me happy every day.  🙂

Thanks Epiphanie!

Need More Veggies?

February 9, 2013 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

I was feeling like my body needed more veggies, so I pulled up one of my favorite veggie dishes as featured a few months ago on my blog: Spicy and Sweet Cabbage Salad.

This really is a good one if you need to incorporate more veggies into your menu plan.

The recipe calls for a homemade dressing of orange juice, lemon juice, curry powder and sea salt.  Its really easy to whip up, but today I did not have the orange juice, so I decided to use my Cilantro dressing from Trader Joe’s.

So, the point is, you can really dress this salad with any of your favorite dressings, and it will be equally as delicious.

In the photo below, I tried to highlight the delicious veggies with my new camera.  I’m trying to become more proficient with the aperture settings.  Still have some work to do. :0

Now, go eat your veggies and have a Fantastic weekend!

Testing the Waters of Aperture Mode

October 26, 2012 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

I love my Canon Powershot SX130IS camera. I’ve owned it for 2 years now, and have really been impressed with the photos I can take on the fly.

However, I have never gotten out of automatic mode, and I know there is so much more to this camera than solely automatic.

So, while Mountain Man and I were on our Napa Getaway this past weekend, I tried the Aperture mode. Turns out, its pretty darn simple.

You see, I would really like a DSLR camera, but it would probably be a good idea if I check out the manual settings on this camera first before purchasing a new higher end camera.

I want to make sure I can handle the complexities of all of the choices in manual mode.

I know with aperture mode, the main subject of the photo is given center stage and highlighted in the photo with just the right lighting settings.

After taking the photos of the beautiful blue glasses at Fish Story restaurant, I can see how this mode makes a big difference, especially for an amateur like me.

Glasses with Aperture setting. Yay, its brighter. And crisper.

Automatic mode:  The subject does not appear to be highlighted. The shot focuses on the whole scene.

My cappuccino cup in aperture mode. Isn’t that super crystal clear? Love it!

I have much to learn, but I’m excited I took this first baby step.

Will keep you posted in my journey to becoming a skilled photographer.
