Handbags Can Be So Sweet

February 25, 2013 by Mom on the Make 2 Comments

As I discussed in my last post, I visited NYC last weekend and saw the sights for three full days.

While walking around the streets of NYC, there is so much to see.

A particular window display caught my attention while roaming around downtown.  The display was of cakes shaped like luxury handbags!!

Students from the International Culinary Center were displaying their creations in the window of L’ecole restaurant.  Along with myself, other passers by were blown away by the detail and beauty of these delectable cakes.

I love both handbags and cake, so these creations really spoke to me personally.  🙂

Take a peek……

These incredible creations were displayed in the window at L’ecole restaurant in downtown New York City.  Another restaurant on my list to try very soon.  (on my next trip to NYC)

I think I need a handbag cake for my next birthday for sure.  🙂  Love, love, love it!!

See’s Candy and Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2013 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

I always look forward to Mountain Man giving me my traditional See’s Candies one pound heart shaped box of chocolates.

See’s makes the best chocolates on the planet.

I felt the need to take photos of my delicious chocolates to share……

By the way, this was probably one of the most fun photo sessions for a post.  🙂

Check out some of my most favorite See’s candies…..

I love Chocolates

February 9, 2013 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

I know, I know, I just posted that my body needed more veggies, but chocolates are a must too. 🙂  Wouldn’t you agree?

Around Valentine’s Day, there are so many beautiful candy displays around, its difficult to not think about chocolate.

I took Imagineer to the ice cream shop yesterday to treat her to a scoop of Almond Joy and a scoop of Cherry Vanilla.

We decided that we needed to order a few chocolates as well……chocolate nut clusters and sea salt caramels to be exact.

Here’s a few photos of our treats….

I love sea salt with caramel and chocolate.  So good.

Need More Veggies?

February 9, 2013 by Mom on the Make Leave a Comment

I was feeling like my body needed more veggies, so I pulled up one of my favorite veggie dishes as featured a few months ago on my blog: Spicy and Sweet Cabbage Salad.

This really is a good one if you need to incorporate more veggies into your menu plan.

The recipe calls for a homemade dressing of orange juice, lemon juice, curry powder and sea salt.  Its really easy to whip up, but today I did not have the orange juice, so I decided to use my Cilantro dressing from Trader Joe’s.

So, the point is, you can really dress this salad with any of your favorite dressings, and it will be equally as delicious.

In the photo below, I tried to highlight the delicious veggies with my new camera.  I’m trying to become more proficient with the aperture settings.  Still have some work to do. :0

Now, go eat your veggies and have a Fantastic weekend!

Dark Chocolate Cupcakes

You know you’re making progress when your 10 year old wants to make cupcakes all on her own!

She did not want any help.

Broadway noticed the lack of cupcakes in our house.

She wanted to fix the problem.

Quickly.

Took the bull by the horns.

And started baking.

It warmed my heart that she wanted to make the same dark chocolate cupcakes I had made a few days earlier.

I am amazed that she is fully capable of following a recipe all by herself now.  This recipe even included homemade frosting.

She even did most of the clean up.

I’m so proud of her.

Its these little wins that make each day so special.

Good Job Broadway. 🙂
