Halloween Popcorn Hand Craft

October 25, 2012 by Mom on the Make 1 Comment

Bam Bam, my four year old son, came home yesterday with a really cool Halloween craft he made in his after school club that I just have to share with you all.

This is about as simple as it gets.

The ingredients for this craft include Halloween items you might already have hanging around your house.

You will need:

  • Gloves (the saran wrap type)
  • Popcorn
  • Candy corn
  • Halloween spider plastic ring

Simply place a few candy corns in the fingers and thumb for the fingernails, followed by popcorn, then place a spooky black spider ring on the ring finger.

Voila, super cool Halloween craft for the little ones.  Love it!

I Learned How to Make Body Butter Today

Coconut and Lemonade Body Butters

Coconut and Lemonade Body Butters

Have dry skin?  Love scented lotions from the fancy body and bath stores?

Well, if your answer is yes to at least one of these questions, I recommend that you try making body butter at home.  I learned how to make these rich and creamy lotions today and it is Super Fun.

Bam-Bam has a friend at preschool whose Mom has been making body butters for over a year now and invited us over for a body butter party.

I thought that the process would be very intricate and time consuming, but it actually only took two hours and was really very easy.

The body butters that you create at home are so much more rich and creamy than what you find in the stores.  It probably has to do with the freshness factor.  Also, the scents are easy to control because you add the scents yourself.  Using a pipette, you add the scent drop by drop to create the perfect strength of the scent for your personal taste.

Choosing your scent

One of the best parts of the process is getting to choose your scent.  There are many to choose from

including:  jasmine, gardenia, lemon sugar, blue raspberry, chocolate brownie, cotton candy, hazelnut, grapefruit, vanilla cupcake, root beer float and the list goes on.

Preparing the Body Butter Base

We used two bases, luxury body butter base and shea butter from Save on Scents.  If you add a little shea butter, the body butter is even more moisturizing than with only the luxury body butter base.

You do not need to add much shea butter for a highly moisturizing effect.

Then add the luxury body butter base and melt together, constantly stirring.

Time to add Scents and Coloring

Once the body butter bases are mixed together well, it is time to gather your scents and add some color.

Scents and Jars

Scents and Jars

We lined up all of the scents with their jars and scent droppers (pipettes).  The droppers are important, because you really only want to add a little at a time to arrive at your perfect scent.

Our Body Butter Flavors for the Day

Broadway came home with lemon sugar, jasmine, lemon tart, ocean breeze, and island gardenia.

Imagineer made root beer float, grapefruit, deep fried ice cream, awapuhi seaberry, orange whip, and blackberry.

I made jasmine, island gardenia, blue raspberry, hazelnut and lemonade.

SO fun and easy.  These butters will last for a long time as they are really rich, so a little goes a long way.

Do you have any homemade projects that you enjoy doing?  If so, I would love to hear about it below in the comment area.
