During workout today, there was a lot of talk about replicating the strokes we are all seeing at the Olympic Trials. The swimmers seem to skim the top of the water like a dolphin skimming along the surface.
We were all trying to achieve this effect as well. 🙂
Some day, some way, I’m going to swim with the dolphins. I know there is a hotel on the big island of Hawaii that has a dolphin pool where you can spend time with the dolphins, but I want to swim with them in the ocean in their natural habitat.
Wondering if there is some place in the world that provides that opportunity for us??
I will research and get back to all of you interested parties.
Trying to swim like the Dolphins in Workout
I really enjoyed our swim practice this morning due to the variety infused into each set.
After practice, I decided that I should record this one down to use if I ever go to the pool by myself and need a workout. As I have mentioned before, that scenario most likely won’t happen, as I need a coach and fellow swimmers to push me in order to get a really good workout. By myself, I might do a 500, and then decide its time for a decaf mocha at Starbucks. But, with the synergy of the other swimmers, I have no problem completing a 3000 and getting my heart rate up, and feeling energized afterwards.
Here’s the workout:
400 Free
200 Reverse IM
100 Free
2 x {4×50 (kick, kick/drill, drill/swim, swim}
3 x {2×75 Free, 6×25 kick, 200 pull}
200 warm down
Today’s workout was just shy of our normal 3000 yards. I really enjoyed the use of different equipment, drills, and IM work.
The variety really made the workout go fast.
Today’s off to a good start with my swimming endorphin rush….
