So, its been a whole month since I have been to a swim workout.
The thing about swimming is that if you get out of your routine of waking up at 5:30am to put on a swimsuit and step out onto the freezing cold pool deck where ice covered kickboards are waiting for you, its REALLY difficult to hit the reset button and start again.
But, I did it this morning. The temperature was 37 degrees and the pool deck felt colder than that, but once I dove into the warm pool water and started swimming, all was better. It really is just getting to the pool and diving in the water that is the very difficult part. The swimming part is great.
Its such an exercise in mental toughness. Luckily, I also have Mountain Man who set his alarm as well to make sure that I got up this morning to go to practice to break my stalemate.
I feel so much better, and will hopefully get back to my 3-4 workouts per week starting next week.
This workout was much more focused on stroke drill than yardage, which was good timing for me since I’d been out of the water for so long.
10 minutes of:
75 free, 50 back down, free back
20 minutes of:
100 free
3×50 of dolphin kick on your back down, breastroke on the way back
4×75 of 50 free, then 25 of kickboard stroke drill where you put the kickboard under your feet and do breastroke pull
I did not keep track of the total yardage, since we did the workout in terms of time periods.
Yay, I’m back in the water.
