Masters Morning Swim Workout

Masters Swim Workout

Masters Swim Workout

Loved my workout this morning.  I feel so much better in the water, now that I can include flip turns in my workouts again.

I had to decrease the amount of flip turns in practice to help my lower back heal.  The lower right side of my back has 6 degenerative discs, and this condition had been causing me a lot of pain.  The twisting motion in my turn was not helping the matter.

Now, when I push off the wall from a turn, I push off on my back, then turn around onto my stomach.  The twisting motion is much less severe, and has really helped my back.

Here’s today’s workout:

400 free

4×150 (Swim, Pull, Kick, Swim)

3 x (8×50 on the 50 sec (1-4 free descend, 5-8 not free no descend, 200 (pull or kick)

200 warm down

The beginning of my day is so much better with a swim workout in my back pocket.  🙂
