Beethoven is a large stuffed dog that belongs to Imagineer (my 8 year old daughter). He is super soft and cuddly.
The following is what I would imagine he might be saying or thinking as Imagineer plays with him. This post is about seeing the world from his perspective……..
Imagineer, I would really love to be taken outside more. I love it when we go into the backyard, and you push me on the swing.
Some of my best memories are when you take me up to the top of the play structure, and we have our tea parties. I especially enjoy the peanut butter and banana sandwiches that you so skillfully cut into tiny pieces, so we feel like we are at a fancy tea party.
I love it when your friends come over, and they each have one of my stuffed friends and you set up a classroom for us. We love learning.
The way you write lots of interesting things on the board and teach us about all kinds of stuff is really great. The spelling quiz the other day was a little hard, but I really did well on the math test.
I also love it when you set up a little town inside where we all have our own pretend houses, and we visit each other by making a “ding dong” sound at their front door. My stuffed friends and I really enjoy this game. We play a lot when you are not home, and we’ve added this “neighbor game” to our activities.
Imagineer, I love you so much, but there are some things I don’t enjoy…….
I don’t enjoy it when you drag me through the mud in the backyard when I’m in my fancy clothes. It puts kind of a damper on the outing.
Please, please control your dog, Dusty, more. Yes, I know he is super sweet and cuddly and furry and all that, but sometimes he bites my feet when you’re not looking.
It really hurts.
Also, your brother, Bam-Bam, sometimes picks me up by the neck and tosses me around, which REALLY doesn’t feel good. Going for the jugular is never a good thing.
I would also prefer to not have to wear the ballet tutu anymore. Its just not my style. I prefer the pajamas or T-shirts and shorts that you usually dress me in. Much more comfy for lounging around in.
Thanks so much for playing with me all the time. Imagineer, you are just the best, and I am one lucky pup to have you as my owner. 🙂

Poor Beethoven. Such a patient, tortured soul. 😉
